Lasai is a collection of modular urban furniture based on thin tropical wood slats that provides for great versatility in terms of sets and ergonomics. It consists of a chaise-lounge and a bench, two planter models and a picnic table, which provide for a wide range of add-ons and combinations.
Lasai, the Basque word for “calm”, came about from the idea of creating a family of urban fixtures that invited to relaxation, the possibility of taking a break overlooking the sea, in a park, under a tree, and so on. It is based on a design that came out of the transformation of Barcelona’s Port Olímpic by the architects of Leku Studio. The collection is composed of modules measuring 55 cm wide and 180 cm long, which can be put in a lengthwise or crosswise arrangement. It allows living areas to be created, such as large platforms or reclined seating, combined with vegetation with the two planter models.
The different elements of the collection create the media for coexistence, with area for gathering and relaxing that foster a more casual and diverse manner of inhabiting the city’s public space. Support structures of 8 mm thick galvanized and mechanized steel plates. Paint finish with the RAL colour chart. The seating area and seat back are made of 40x35 mm FSC® certified tropical hardwood slats. Anchoring with pavement-sunk bolt set into 12 mm holes pre-drilled into the pavement and filled with epoxy resin or heavy mortar. The planters do not require anchoring.
