The project is part of the Barcelona’s Olympic Port Strategic Management Plan transformation process which establishes its evolution to a more social, sustainable and open port. In this process, a preliminary phase is defined with the objective of functionally redefining the Mestral and Gregal docks as a preparatory action for propelling new dynamics and activities in the port.
. The structural remodelling of the surface area of both docks using only site furnishings, thus obtaining space for people while also improving habitability and promoting new social uses on the sea front.
For this project, Escofet has developed the Lasai collection in steel and tropical wood, based on a design by Leku Studio. It consists of a combinable chaise-longue and backless bench, two planter models and a picnic table that allows different adaptive furnishings to be added. The transformation is completed with other classical products featured in the Escofet catalogue such as the Boomerang backless benches, the Icaria planters and the Barana backless benches, which already existed and have been reconfigured as resting platforms.
