Block interior with a surface area of 720 m² in the Eixample district of the city of Barcelona. This operation was executed with arguments for the transformation and qualification of the landscape through public values, establishing continuities through the zone that provides access through calle Borrell and from the Hospital Complex via calle Londres. The project was aimed at transforming the space into an oasis that transmits a sensation of calm and peace. The subsoil of this area is fully occupied by the operating theatres used in the activities of the Hospital Complex.
The impossibility of planting trees and the diminished load-bearing capacity of the existing deck are the conditioning factors applied to the design of the Crown lightweight modular plant boxes, along with other rectangular plant boxes made of galvanised sheet attached to the party walls, with the objective of creating this green urban space enclosed inside the block.
The sitting area, accessed through a ramp with a galvanised sheet slopes on each side of it, is resolved with polished asphalt paving around the perimeter and a continuous surface of recycled rubber in the central space. Lighting is provided by Ful columns and Kiwi model chairs are used. Both these items, listed in the Escofet catalogue, add the necessary degree of comfort.
