A grid paving system of perforated slabs, made of concrete and in a square format of 45 x 45, which acts as a semi-vegetative base on a horizontal or sloped surface. It is suitable for planting grass blankets in urban environments, preventing the formation of puddles and protecting it from erosion caused by the presence of pedestrians, and the occasional presence of light vehicles.
Checkerblock 45 is the evolution of the design presented in 1992. As its name suggests, it is a slab that creates a checkerboard pattern in urban spaces, acting as a confinement for the fertile substrate in which grass grows.
The square geometry of each piece is in the form of a mesh that contains 9 pavers, each 7.5 cm wide, connected by concrete ribs that are hidden beneath the vegetation. Their cross section permits the optimum development and growth of the grass which colonises the empty spaces in different Grassing proportions. Due to its high drainage capacity, it maintains the natural rainwater cycle, re-injecting it into the groundwater.
Pressed concrete slabs, with 20% recycled aggregates, in a 45x45 cm format and 10 cm thick, with a fine, non-slip smooth texture and grey color. It combats soil erosion caused by traffic, water, and wind effects, and prevents vegetation displacement by providing excellent drainage through its holes. Permeable area of 37% and drainage capacity of 13500 mm/h.
