The project for improving the sports areas and urban public space in La Verneda and La Pau comprises a series of operations in several areas of the neighbourhood which are interconnected with each other to form an urban structure for encouraging sport. All the above is part of the playful city strategy implemented by Barcelona City Council in the form of play infrastructure for improving health, community life and accessibility. This results in the treatment of spaces in an open manner, in order to create areas of co-existence for the whole neighbourhood.
The project is strategically implemented with a moulded concrete bench model and a polished Escofet finish, in an irregular layout which also assumes the functions of boundary markers and signposts with bas-relief inscriptions along a 5-km circuit. It is generated with a formulation of black and white aggregates specially developed for this project. Escofet’s galvanised steel Ful street lights were also selected to illuminate the sports circuit.
