Oxygen Park, a unique public space in Doha’s Education City, is a man-made ‘green lung’ with a design inspired by nature. It is an antidote to the generic indoor gym environment and helps people to get back to nature, while fostering social engagement and promoting active healthy lifestyles. Inspired by the wind eroded rocks and fluid land formations of the desert, the path and running tracks are embedded in the topography to create an exciting training ground with looping tracks, cooled tunnel segments and steep hills.
Escofet has developed the prototypes and also produced the final issue of 1.100 items for Qatar Foundation consisting in three bench typologies, a set of two litter bins, two bollard models, gardeners, a sets of and picnic tables and stools. Moulded in Self compacting concrete and UHPC, beige soft polished finished, all them in the four areas of the project: The Oxygen Park, Western Green Spine, South Site Wide Infrastructure and North East Car Park.
