Federal Sreet Square in Chicago, Canet backless benches

The square located in the Chicago Loop, is bounded over to the west by the imposing building of the Metropolitan Correctional Center, a federal prison inaugurated in 1975 and designed by the architect Harry Weese. In the North and in the East, this public space borders Van Burren St. and Federal St.

The remodeling is solved with a simple pavement of sand that receives eight Escofet’s benches, model Canet. Located under the shadow of eleven deciduous trees, the set is arranged forming four alignments. At night the benches light up floating on their own light.
