Domus is a project by Ramón Úbeda and Otto Canalda that brings singular new features to site furnishings thanks to UHPC concrete technology, which allows the idea of a “shelter” in a single piece to be made real, so that the bench itself is not only formed by a seat, it provides shelter from the rain, shade in the summer and light at dusk.
The “Shelter” concept is at the origin of this site furnishing element that becomes an archetype in its field, just as Domus, the Roman home, is an exemplary standard in the architectural history of mankind.
Domus incorporates singular concepts into site furnishings. A bench in the sun is an impossible seat in many places, but thanks to the masterful combination of the material and the configuration that provides a roof, Domus generates a cooler microclimate in its interior. Optionally Domus incorporates a point of light that offers safety at night.
Domus exemplifies the importance of creating an emotional bond between brand and user, by appealing to the sentiments of the consumer. In this case the human factor stands out above all other issues, promoting interactive processes between its users.
Single block of UHPC_Slimconcrete reinforced with stainless steel. Etched finish and colour in accordance with the standard Escofet colour chart. Its low centre of gravity and the threaded sleeves inserted into its three lateral faces make it easy to handle and unload, in all cases in a vertical position. It is installed with anchors to the paving or ad hoc foundations.
