The project is included within the industrial area of the old textile factory Fabra i Coats, in the district of Sant Andreu in Barcelona, and involves the recovery and rehabilitation of one of the warehouses that was used to accommodate fourty-six social apartments managed by the municipal administration.
The two original plants become four, thanks to the free height of the old textile factories. These new houses are created using wooden materials with the aim of discerning the intervention of the existing building.
Escofet has developed the concrete paving elements for the corridors and stairs, becoming the element of contact between the new wooden structure and the brick facades of the old factory. The concrete elements contain transparent glass beads in order to allow light to pass through the plants of the building.
