These new beach access ramps, specially designed for comfort and optimised accessibility, will replace the 20 year old timber boardwalks on angles that are now unacceptable and deteriorated due to their heavy use and demanding environmental conditions.
Heavy-duty materials have been chosen instead of timber. Marine atmosphere-resistant aluminium and UHPC concrete are the components of this modular industrialized system. The wood-like texture optimizes the tactile conditions of the walking surface. The system consists of two parts assembled to build walkways or platforms in variable dimensions, laid on a bed of sand or embedded in lawns. A textured extruded “U”shaped piece, 2 m long and 20 cm wide, engages with a toothed lateral support on both sides.
