Built on the premises of the former Athens’ historic airport The Experience Park which opened its doors in 2021 is the first piece of the Metropolitan Park of Ellinikon.
The Experience Park is designed by the architectural firm Doxiadis+, it’s the first part opened of Ellinikon Metropolitan Park, one of the largest coastal public parks in the world and a showcase for Greek heritage and biodiversity. The Experience Park expands in a 75.000 m2, it maintains to the highest degree possible the beautiful elements of the former airport- both natural and artificial elements – and creates a basis for dialogue, and discovery of its special features along with the promotion of core sustainability ideas.
The Experience Park offers the Water Maze featuring a spectacular interactive fountain with hundreds of water jets; the Zen Garden with Mediterranean flora and calming waters; the forest playground, and an outdoor fitness area. The urban furniture of the different areas has been provided by Escofet to relax and to enjoy unique experiences close to nature. Soc and Comú illuminated benches that blend in with the environment, the Hardy litter bin in its selective version, the Raval bike rack or the picnic areas with the Marina model.
