The Spanish head office of iGuzzini Illuminazione Ibérica is in Sant Cugat del Vallès. The building has two parts with different purposes. One is low, wide, partly buried, with no natural lighting, wrapped in face concrete. The other is a spherical glass structure that floats in the landscape.
The lower platform makes the most of the sloping site. It contains a logistical storeroom, a car park, a showroom, an auditorium, a Theater of Light, a presentation room and all the necessary equipment. All these environments need darkness in order to exhibit and experience the effects of artificial light. The upper part of the platform is a wired outdoor technical floor. It consists of mobile panels in different finishes, including 130 x 180 cm concrete slabs manufactured by Escofet to provide the necessary flexibility for different outdoor showroom configurations.
