Luminarias Wide en calle Pere IV de Barcelona

The works on reforming the central section of calle Pere IV, an old industrial district that crosses the 22@ innovation district in Sant Martí, have left just a single lane for cars, a two-way lane for bikes and wide pedestrian walkways of 6 meters. For the lighting the City Council chose the Wide lamps and for the urban furniture, the Nomo seats, both of them manufactured by Escofet.

The global nature of the reform work will transform the 3 km of this road, which crosses the district diagonally, interrupting the Cerdà plan. Historically, it was the “Camí Ral”, a road that enters and exits the city, and it was also known as the “Catalan Manchester” as it housed a thriving industrial and manufacturing area. The transformation arrived after decades of degradation, converting Pere IV into a civic space in which the economy has been reactivated and importance attached to its valuable industrial heritage, with many of its old factories and other sites now being used for cultural and economic activities.
